New Delhi: The thousands of farmers protesting against the contentious farm laws at different border points of the national capital have finally decided to end their year-long movement.
The Union government has accepted all demands of the farmers, including withdrawal of agitation-related cases and providing compensation to families of farmers who died during the course of the protests.
Last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the government has decided to repeal the three agriculture laws.
Both Houses of Parliament passed the Farm Laws Repeal Bill on November 29, the first day of Winter session.

The farmers had been demanding withdrawal of the farm laws ever since they were passed in Parliament in September 20. The Delhi border sit-in protests started on November 26, 2020.
Following were demands of farmers:
* Withdrawal of all the agitation-related cases registered during this protest in all states and Union territories, or under central government agencies, etc.
* Compensation to all the families of the agitating farmers who died during the course of agitation.
* No criminal liability to farmers in the cases of stubble burning.
* The government has to discuss the Electricity Amendment Bill with the SKM or with other farmers’ unions before bringing it up in Parliament.
* A committee to discuss minimum support price (MSP) is to be formed; the SKM will list out their members in the panel and provide it to the farmers.
* The ongoing policy on MSP and its procurement in the country will continue as it is.
