Patiala: A group of farmers protesting against the farm laws here disrupted the shooting of the film ‘Good Luck Jerry’, starring Janhvi Kapoor.
The protesters raised anti-Bollywood slogans, expressing their disappointment that no actor extended support to the agitating farmers.
“We are telling the film industry which is holding its shooting in Punjab to at least speak in favour of farmers who are agitating against the legislations,” The Indian Express quoted Rajwant Singh Sandhu as saying.
It summed up the mood of farmers, who had gathered in the Civil Lines area where the film is being shot.
Slamming the Centre for imposing ‘black laws’ on the farming community, some of them also held a protest outside the hotel where the film’s crew is staying.
The protests were peaceful, said a police official.
Earlier this month, shooting was briefly halted after a group of farmers insisted that Janhvi make a comment on the farmers’ protest, which has been going on for two months.
Sridevi’s daughter then shared an Instagram Story in support of the farmers.
“Farmers are at the heart of our country. I recognise and value the role that they play in feeding our nation. I hope a resolution is reached soon that benefits the farmers,” Janhvi had written.
Janhvi’s previous film, ‘Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl’, was hit by controversies after its release last year as many slammed the movie for misleading facts.
