Farmers’ Unions Call For Bharat Bandh, Know The Date

New Delhi: Farmers’ unions protesting against the central government’s three new farm laws have called for a nationwide strike (Bharat bandh) on March 26 to coincide with the completion of four months of their protest at Delhi borders against the central government.

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha, the umbrella body of agitating farm unions, has also announced that farmer bodies and trade unions will protest the privatisation and fuel price hike on March 15, India Today reported.

Thousands of farmers have been camping at the Delhi border points at Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur for over three months, demanding the repeal of farm laws and a legal guarantee on the minimum support price (MSP) for their crops.

Earlier, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait, who was in Ballia to address a ‘Kisan Mahapanchayat’ said he will go to Kolkata this week to urge farmers to defeat the BJP in the West Bengal Assembly elections, but claimed he is not supporting any political party.
