London: Female employees of Sony have filed a case against the company alleging sexism at workplace.

They have claimed in the lawsuit that the company discriminates against female employees.

It was in November 2021 that former employee Emma Majo filed a lawsuit in which she claimed that her services were terminated after she spoke about gender bias at workplace.

Lawyers at Sony had argued then that no other female employee made a complaint like Majo’s. But now, eight more female employees have joined the lawsuit against the company. Some of them are still working at Sony, while others have quit the company.

“When I left Sony, I told the SVP and Director of HR Rachel Ghadban in the Rancho Bernardo office that the reason I was leaving was systemic sexism against females. The Director of HR simply said, ‘I understand.’ She did not ask for any more information. I had spoken with the Director of HR many times before about sexism against females,” senior director of program management Marie Harrington had said in a court statement.

Harrington, who worked at Sony for over 16 years, further claimed that Sony rarely considered female employees for promotion.

Sony hasn’t yet reacted to female employees’ claims.
