New Delhi: With the Delhi Assembly election just over a fortnight away, campaigning is close to hitting fever pitch.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), eyeing a third successive term, and a desperate Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are going hammer and tongs at each other, with sparks flying every day.
In the latest clash, AAP on Saturday alleged that party chief and former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s convoy was attacked during his door-to-door campaign in the New Delhi Assembly constituency on Saturday.
AAP blamed BJP leader Parvesh Verma’s ‘goons’ of throwing a stone at Kejriwal’s car.
Parvesh, who is pitted against Kejriwal, hit back and accused Kejriwal’s car of hitting two people during the campaign. Parvesh also said one of his supporters was badly injured and taken to hospital.
AAP released a video purportedly showing the incident, claiming that a stone can be seen landing on Kejriwal’s vehicle.
“BJP candidate Parvesh Verma’s goons attacked Arvind Kejriwal with stones while he was campaigning and tried to hurt him so that he could not campaign. BJP people, Kejriwal ji is not going to be scared of your cowardly attack, the people of Delhi will give you a befitting reply,” AAP said in a post on X.
The video shows people waving black flags near the convoy, which AAP claims were part of a deliberate attempt to disrupt the campaign.

Even as AAP demanded that Parvesh be taken into custody and questioned over the ‘attack’ on Kejriwal’s car, the BJP candidate said Kejriwal’s car crushed a BJP worker’s leg.
