Bhubaneswar: Hockey players from Poland and Russia arrived in the Odisha capital on Friday for the upcoming FIH Men’s Series Finals, scheduled to be played at Kalinga Stadium here from June 6 to June 15.
They were escorted to the hotel amid tight security from the Biju Patnaik International Airport, sources said.
Twin City Police Commissioner, Satyajit Mohanty informed that adequate arrangements have been made for the security of the players and other officials.
A total of eight countries are participating in the event in two pools.
India, Poland, Russia and Uzbekistan are in Pool-A, Japan, Mexico, South Africa and USA are in Pool-B.
India will open their campaign against Russia on June 6 and meet Poland on June 7 and Uzbekistan on June 10 in their remaining pool matches. The final of the tournament will be played on June 15.
The top two teams will make it to the 2019 Men’s FIH Olympic Qualifiers.
