Bengaluru: The film fraternity was in shock after the lifeless body of acclaimed Kannada film director Guruprasad was found in his apartment at Madanayakanahalli, in Bengaluru Urban district.
Police are investigating to confirm the time and circumstances of his passing.
Neighbours alerted police after detecting a foul odour from his residence, reported Asianet News. On arrival at the spot, cops found Guruprasad hanging from a ceiling fan, suggesting that he may have taken his life some days ago after locking himself in.
The 52-year-old Guruprasad, known for his much-appreciated films like ‘Mata’, ‘Eddelu Manjunatha’, and ‘Director’s Special’, had recently remarried. But according to reports in local media, he probably took the extreme step as he was facing financial challenges.
He was under pressure from creditors, including recent allegations related to unpaid purchases.
Besides his directorial work, Guruprasad also acted in several films.
His latest project ‘Adema’ was under production at the time of his death.
