Chennai: ‘Annapoorani’, which happens to be Nayanthara’s 75th film, is in the eye of a storm.
A complaint has been filed by Mumbaikar Ramesh Solanki, based on which LT Marg Police Station lodged an FIR against the movie which premiered on OTT platform Netflix last month.
‘Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food’, featuring Nayanthara and Jai in lead roles, has been accused of promoting love jihad.
Helmed by first-time director Nilesh Krishnaa, ‘Annapoorani’ has allegedly hurt religious sentiments for a controversial comment concerning Lord Ram.
According to the complaint, ‘Annapoorani’ is an anti-Hindu film which shows a daughter of Hindu poojari offering namaz to cook biryani and promotes love jihad.
“At a time when the whole world is rejoicing in anticipation of the Pran Pratishtha of Bhagwan Shri Ram Mandir, this anti-Hindu film Annapoorani has been released on Netflix, produced by Zee Studios, Naad Sstudios and Trident Arts.

3. Farhan (Actor) persuades the actress to eat meat saying that Bhagwan Shri Ram was also a meat eater
@NetflixIndia and @ZeeStudios have deliberately made this film and released around the Pran Pratishtha to hurt Hindu sentiments. I hereby request @dgpup @MumbaiPolice @homeupgov @maharashtra_hmo to register FIR against the below individuals for hurting religious sentiments,” the complainant stated.
Solanki named Nilesh Krishnaa, Jai, Nayanthara and other entities in the complaint.
