Berhampur: A massive fire broke out at a an organic food factory in Kodala area of Odisha’s Ganjam district on Wednesday, reducing products, raw materials, packaging materials and machinery worth crores of rupees to ashes.
According to sources, the fire erupted at Tej Agro factory, owned by Jagannath Sahu destroying variety of food items including cakes, snacks, bread and soft drinks. The blaze reduced raw materials, packaged food items and machineries to ashes.
On being informed by the locals, a fire service personnel from Kodala rushed to the spot and tried to douse the massive flame. After nearly two hours, they could finally control the fire. But by then, the factory has already been totally damaged, sources added.
Though the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, preliminary probe suggested an electrical short circuit could have been the possible reason. Kodala police have initiated an investigation into the incident, sources added.
