Firing At Contractor’s House Sparks Tension in Odisha’s Ganjam

Berhampur: Some unidentified miscreants fired three rounds at the house of a contractor in Khallikote of Ganjam district sparking tension in the area late Wednesday night.

According to the FIR filed by the contractor, Ranjit Patnaik, some people knocked at the door of his house at Kanheipur near the primary health centre (PHC) in Khallikote around midnight. Before he went to open the door, there was firing sound and three bullets pierced through the door. But nobody was injured in the incident.

After Ranjit filed the FIR at Khallikote police station, SDPO of Chhatrapur accompanied by a police team reached the sport and launched an investigation on Thursday.

Police have seized three used cartridges from inside the house and one live cartridge from outside the door. According to preliminary investigation, the firing is suspected to be related to previous enmity.
