Mumbai: Cyber Police on Sunday arrested a man from Borda village of Rajasthan’s Bundi district for allegedly posting a video on YouTube in connection with the April 14 firing outside Salman Khan’s residence.
Banwarilal Laturlal Gujar (25), the accused, had uploaded a video shot on a highway in Rajasthan on his YouTube channel ‘Are Chhodo Yaar’ announcing his plans to kill the Bollywood superstar. Gujar claimed to have gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar on his side, ANI reported quoting Mumbai Crime Branch sources.
A case was registered against Gujar with a cyber police station in Mumbai, and a team was sent to Rajasthan to probe the matter.
“We are checking if Gujar has any previous criminal background. He has been arrested under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 506(2) (punishment for criminal intimidation), and provisions of the Information Technology (IT) Act. Further investigation is underway,” a crime branch official told media.
Banwarilal is being taken to Mumbai for further probe. Mumbai Police has also registered a new case in connection with the April 14 incident when two motorcycle-borne men fired multiple rounds outside Salman Khan’s residence.
A total of six persons have been arrested so far. Of them, one individual allegedly hanged himself in a police lock-up on May 1.
