New Delhi: The country’s Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) will be participating in a landmark high-level conference that will bring together the top leadership of India’s internal security apparatus.
This first of its kind conference will be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself, signalling a strong push towards unified strategic thinking across the forces.
The gathering is designed to give CAPF leadership a common platform to deliberate on their evolving mandate in the face of rapidly shifting internal security threats, senior officials said, as reported by News18.
Internal security threats range from insurgency and left-wing extremism to the growing menace of cyber-enabled risks. The changing threat landscape has made coordinated responses more critical than ever, officials noted.
Cadre as well as IPS officers are expected to attend the conference, the details of which are to be announced soon.
he conference is also expected to go beyond inter-CAPF collaboration and deepen synergy with central intelligence agencies and state police forces. Key agenda items are likely to include enhanced intelligence sharing, streamlined coordination mechanisms, and frameworks for joint operational planning.
The Intelligence Bureau has reached out to relevant stakeholders, seeking substantive inputs on priority issues and topics to be taken up during the deliberations, sources said. These suggestions will be instrumental in ensuring that the conference produces concrete, outcome-oriented results rather than remaining a symbolic exercise, CAPF officials noted.
They believe that this initiative is a significant step towards institutionalising high-level collaboration within India’s internal security framework. A successful outcome could set the stage for regular, structured engagement among CAPFs, fostering a more cohesive and anticipatory approach to national security.
