Bhubaneswar: The Patha Utsav event made a vibrant return to Bhubaneswar on Sunday, turning the city’s busy roads into lively spaces for cultural programmes, recreation, and community bonding.
The festivities began at Master Canteen, where residents gathered early in the morning to enjoy performances and activities in a cheerful outdoor atmosphere.
With traffic temporarily halted till 11 am, the streets became a stage for music and dance, inviting people to participate freely. Despite the chilly weather, the turnout was impressive, with locals enthusiastically watching shows and joining in various activities.
A host of dignitaries, including Law, Works and Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan and Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das attended the event hosted by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).
he event offered a wide range of attractions tailored for children, youth, and families. Fashion shows, Zumba sessions, kids’ zones, face painting, and traditional games kept the crowd engaged throughout the morning. Adding to the festive spirit, art and craft stalls lined the streets, drawing attention from bystanders and participants alike.
To maintain continuous excitement, a series of performance-based programmes was organised along the event stretch. Highlights included Bhubaneswar Got Talent, skating demonstrations, mehendi art, folk dances, yoga sessions, karate displays, and live sketching, ensuring there was something for everyone.
For smooth conduct of the festival, traffic restrictions were enforced on Sunday morning. Vehicular movement was stopped on the road from Master Canteen to Ram Mandir Square until 11 am, with commuters advised to take alternate routes during the restriction period.
Officials said Patha Utsav will continue in other parts of the city in the coming weeks. The next edition is scheduled to take place at Jagamara on January 18, followed by another event in the Infocity area on February 1.
