Bhubaneswar: He had recovered and tested negative coronavirus but was still undergoing treatment at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, for other ailments. The Patient 5, the first COVID-19 case from Surya Nagar in Bhubaneswar, was finally discharged from the hospital on Tuesday.
According to official sources, the 60-year-old was admitted to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar on March 31 in a critical condition with history of asthma, diabetes mellitus and hypertension and suspected symptoms of COVID -19. He tested positive for the virus on April 1.
The patient was kept in COVID isolation ward on ventilator at the time of initial admission and later shifted to COVID ward.

e then tested negative twice for COVID-19 on April 6 and 8. However, his condition kept on fluctuating and he was provided higher antibiotics and ICU-level monitoring. The patient was on ventilator up to April 18. He recovered from the ailments and was discharged from the hospital on May 5, the sources added.
