Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BSR) legislator G Lasya Nanditha died early on Friday after her car collided with a road barricade on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Patancheru in Telangana’s Sangareddy district.
The accident took place around 6.30 am when the 37-year old lawmaker was returning to the city. She was a first-time member of Telangana Assembly.
“The driver of the Sports Utility Vehicle – Maruti XL6 – appears to have lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the metal barrier on the left side of the expressway, killing her on the spot,” HIndustant Times reported quoting a police officer.
The driver of the car, who also suffered severe injuries, was taken to a nearby private hospital in Patancheru in critical condition.
Nanditha, the daughter of the late former BRS legislator G Sayanna, won from Secunderabad Cantonment assembly constituency in 2023 elections last November. She secured victory by defeating G Vennela, the daughter of the renowned revolutionary balladeer Gaddar.
She had earlier demonstrated active involvement in party affairs while serving as a corporator in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, representing the Kavadiguda division.
On February 13, Nanditha had escaped narrowly with minor injuries in a road accident at Marriguda junction while returning from a public rally held by BRS president and former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
