First Trans Couple Pregnancy In India; Know How It Was Possible
Kozhikode: In a first in India, a trans couple announced pregnancy with an elaborate photoshoot which they shared on social media.
Ziya Paval was born a man and changed into a woman, while Zahad was born a woman and changed into a man.
After the couple lived together for three years, it was transman Zahad – a 23-year-old accountant — who conceived the baby. The trans couple is expecting their first baby in March.
Ziya Paval took to Instagram to share the good news.
“Although I did not become a woman by birth or by my body, I knew the femininity in me as long as I grew up, but a dream that I had inside me ‘Mother’… Desires are known.”
“Time has brought us together. It has been three years. Like my dream of mother, his dream of father and a desire of our own brought us to one thought. Today 8 months old Jeevan is moving in his belly with full consent and supporting the decisions we made to make our wishes come true. As far as we know, India’s first TRANS MAN PREGNANCY,” Ziya added, thanking their family members and the doctor who supported and guided the couple through the rare pregnancy.

Zahad conceived the child during his transition from a woman to a man, which was halted for the baby’s sake, reported Indiatimes.com. Zahad’s breasts were taken away, but the uterus was still there.
The couple has decided that breast milk will be given to the child from a milk bank.
