Sundargarh: The first tribal IAS officer from Sundargarh district, Livinus Kindo passed away at his residence in Rajgangpur town on Sunday night.
He was 76 and is survived by wife, two sons and a daughter.
Family sources said that the septuagenarian died following a massive heart attack at 10.30 pm.
Born on March 13, 1945, in Malidihi village of Rajgangpur block, Kindo got his Master’s degree in Economics from Sambalpur University in 1970 (gold medallist) and later pursued his M.Phil on ‘Economic Development’ from Glasgow University in the United Kingdom in 1989.
Kindo began his career as the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of Talcher and later held key posts in the state government as secretary of Revenue, Cooperatives, Industries, Fisheries, Animal Resources and Agriculture. He had held the post of Settlement Officer, Sambalpur, Collector of Kalahandi, Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), Northern Division, State Election Commissioner (SEC) and Member, Board of Revenue.
During his tenure, Kindo had immensely contributed to the development of the tribal community in the Sundargarh district.
