Mumbai: The Mahindra Thar 2020 has created quite a buzz with its rugged styling and butch appeal. What’s creating more news is the fact that the first-ever unit of the SUV has been auctioned for a whopping Rs 1.10 crore.
The proceeds of the auction will be used to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and will go to either Naadi Foundation, Swadesh Foundation, or PM CARES depending on the winner.
The auction was held on Mahindra’s 75th Founders’ Day. Over 5,000 people showed interest in the online auction. Akash Minda of Spark Minda group from New Delhi won the bid.
Interestingly, Mahindra will match the bid and add it to the amount to be donated.
The unit will come with a special badge that highlights its status as Thar #1 and will also have the owner’s initials. It will also carry the number ‘1’ on the dashboard and leatherette seats.
Mahindra will open bookings for the Thar from October 2. It is expected to be priced from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh.
