Five Air India Pilots Test Postive For COVID-19
New Delhi: Five Air India pilots, some of whom were on a recent cargo trip to Guangzhou in China, have tested positive for coronavirus.
Under the Vande Bharat initiative to bring back Indian citizens from around the world, Air India pilots will have scheduled stays at places such as New York, London, San Francisco, Singapore, Washington, and Chicago. This has reportedly caused fear among the crew.
Pilots and crew wear full PPE gear including hazmat suits, masks, and gloves. They will undergo COVID-19 testing before and after the flight. Also, they will be tested again after 5 days of testing negative before being cleared.
All night halts at these places have been planned beforehand and crew will not have to step out for food from the designated hotel.
