Flight Ticket Refund: Allow Passengers To Use Credit For 2 Years, Says Supreme Court

New Delhi: The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Civil Aviation Ministry on refund of air tickets booked by passengers during the lockdown and directed to file a reply within three weeks.

After hearing a PIL filed for refund of flight ticket payments to passengers whose flights were cancelled during the lockdown, the apex court has asked the Centre and the airlines to take a stand, discuss the modalities and respond to the court in three weeks, according to report of India Today.

“Why should credit being issued by the airlines be limited to a short period or for the same route,” The Supreme Court also asked and suggested that the passengers, whose flight tickets were cancelled, should get at least two years to use the credit amount.

“Allow a passenger to use that credit for any route,” said the Supreme Court.
