In 2018, Nayapalli area had witnessed a state of emergency with vehicles submerged in waist-deep rainwaters in front of ISKON temple here. Residents had attributed the waterlogging menace to water being drained from the temple. Their longstanding demand for construction of a separate drainage system for Nayapalli, IRC Village, Rental Colony and other areas is yet to be fulfilled.
Many feel that the proposed drain through 120 Infantry Battalion will resolve the flooding issue.
