Bhubaneswar: Newly-appointed Director of Medical Education and Training (DMET) Dr Rama Raman Mohanty on Monday allayed apprehensions about a possible rise in COVID cases due to the festive season.
“Odisha witnessed a marginal rise in COVID cases but things will normalise if we strictly follow the COVID guidelines,” he told a local news channel.
He warned people against letting their guard down till the New Year. “The COVID situation will be under control by next year,” he said.
On reopening of schools, Mohanty said that classes are being resumed in a granted manner with strict adherence to the guidelines issued by the government.
“The message should reach the people about the need to follow the safety protocols to be able to fight the disease,” he said, adding, vaccination drive is in full swing.
