Food Safety Officials Conduct Pre-Festival Checks In Odisha’s Cuttack
Cuttack: Food safety officials of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) inspected several makeshift street food kiosks selling chaat, gupchup, fried items and other fast food on Saturday.
The drive was started in response to complaints about the sale of stale food ahead of festive season in the Millennium city.
The officials inspected outlets at Ranihat, College Square, and Jobra areas of the city. The health squad of the CMC seized stale food during the raid and found irregularities in the preparation of the food in the eateries, sources said.
The officials also checked the licenses of food stalls and penalised some of them. A special squad has been formed for conducting checks and spread awareness among city residents, sources added.
“The focus will be on food license and quality. There will be no laxity and fines will be imposed if there is any irregularity by the vendors,” a CMC official said.
