Bhubaneswar: To ensure the food security of the people during the nationwide lockdown in the wake of the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, the Odisha government has decided to provide an additional 5 kgs of rice for three months.
In a tweet, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare minister Ranendra Pratap Swain said the additional rice will be provided to the beneficiaries free of cost through all fair price shops under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and the Odisha Food Security Scheme (OFSS) for three months from April to June. Besides, the government will also provide 1 kg milled arhar dal per family free of cost for three months from April.
The distribution of the additional rice is in addition to the ongoing PDS distribution, he said.
