Find Out Which Foreign Varsity Has Started Accepting JEE Scores

New Delhi: Queen’s University in Ireland could bring alive the dreams of thousands of meritorious Indian students who could not make it to foreign campuses for quality teaching and research because of their economic background.

1. The Belfast-based university, ranked among the top 100 globally, has decided to accept JEE scores in its admission criteria.

2. The university is also exploring the possibility of accepting the scores of other competitive examinations in India, such as the NEET, to offer admission to Indian students on its campus.

3. “We recognised the quality in JEE and we think that if other similar examinations will offer similar quality we will be open to them. There are not too many universities in UK using JEE and we think it is a good discriminator. We will be interested in looking at other national exams that India has got because the quality of education in India is very good,” vice-chancellor of the university Ian Greer told PTI in an interview on Sunday.

4. Greer’s comments assume significance as the development could encourage more varsities in UK and other ranking institutes globally to accept scores of the competitive examinations conducted in India.

5. What’s more, a significant number of Indian students, who fail to make it to UK universities because of the rigid admission process, multiple tests or because of financial issues, can look forward to good times ahead.

6. More than 7.5 lakh Indian students compete for 5,000 seats in several IITs through IIT-JEE. The left-overs are inferior to none. “We would be happy to have them here,” Greer said to PTI.

7. This year, 33,349 students had cleared the JEE-Advanced exam for admission into the IITs.
