Mumbai: Former Assam cricketer Devajit Saikia was elected unopposed as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary at its special general meeting (SGM) on Sunday.
Saikia was serving as acting secretary after Jay Shah left the post and took over as International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman last month.
BCCI president Roger Binny had used his constitutional powers to appoint Saikia as the acting secretary.
Prabhtej Singh Bhatia took charge as BCCI’s treasurer at the SGM.
Saikia and Bhatia were the only candidates nominated for the secretary and treasurer’s posts, respectively.
