Former GRS Sentenced To 7-Year RI In Bribe Case In Odisha’s Kalahandi
Bhawanipatna: A Vigilance court has convicted a former Gram Rozgar Sevak (GRS) in a bribe case and sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment for 4 years in Odisha’s Kalahandi.
As per the case, the Vigilance had arrested Dibakar Sahu, former GRS in Mohangiri panchayat under M Rampur block of the district for demanding and accepting bribe from a complainant in order to prepare muster roll under MGNREG scheme towards release of wages of labourers in connection with construction of BPGY house.
Following investigation, the Vigilance filed the charge sheet against Sahu in the court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna. After hearing the case, the court convicted Sahu and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 years and pay a fine of Rs 5,000 under Section 13(2)r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act,1988.
In default of payment of fine, Sahu has to undergo rigorous imprisonment (RI) for a period of 3 more months.
The court further sentenced him to undergo RI for a period of 3 years and pay fine of Rs 5,000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo RI for a period of 3 months under Section 7 of PC Act,1988.
