Former Manager Of OMFED Sentenced To 2-Year RI In Odisha’s Koraput

Jeypore: A Vigilance court has sentenced a former manager of OMFED to rigorous imprisonment for two years for incurring loss of Rs 11 lakh to state government in Odisha’s Koraput district.

The Vigilance had filed chargesheet against Umesh Chandra Mahapatra, retired plant manager of OMFED, Jeypore plant in the district for his alleged criminal misconduct, thereby causing loss of about Rs 11 lakh to the government.

After hearing the case, Special Judge Vigilance, Jeypore convicted Mahapatra in the case and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment (RI) for 2 years and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on him. In default of payment of the fine, the convict has to undergo RI for 2 more months, the Judge ordered.

Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Mahapatra following his conviction.
