New Delhi: Ex-Union Minister PR Kumaramangalam’s wife was murdered at her Delhi residence on Tuesday night, cops said.
Sixty-seven-year-old Kitty Kumaramangalam was found dead at her Vasant Vihar home in south Delhi. The initial probe found out that she was suffocated to death with a pillow.
Kitty Kumaramangalam was alone at her home accompanied by her house help on Tuesday. At around 9 pm, a washerman (dhobi), who worked for her, barged into the house along with two others with an intent of robbery, police was quoted as saying by NDTV.
According to the officials, the washerman held the house help hostage in a room, attacked Kitty Kumaramangalam, and murdered her.
Police were informed about the murder at around 11 pm. The main accused has been nabbed by the police, while two others who helped him, are still on the run.
Kitty Kumaramangalam was an advocate at the Supreme Court. Her husband was first elected in 1984 to Lok Sabha and had served as ministers of several departments between 1991 and 1998.
“She was murdered at her residence in Vasant Vihar last night. One person has been arrested, and search is on for two other accused,” a senior police officer was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
