Bhubaneswar: Former Odisha Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal released KIIT and KISS Founder Dr Achyuta Samanta’s latest book ‘Mo Maa Mo Prerana’ here on Monday.
A heartfelt tribute to motherhood marked the release of Samanta’s book and five other publications at a special ceremony.
“No one is free from the three traits of nature, including ignorance. But it is the mother who guides us beyond them,” Chief guest Prof. Lal, who had joined the Vice-President in releasing the English version of the book earlier, said in his address.
Reflecting on his years in Odisha, the ex-Governor said it was here that he understood the meaning of mother more deeply than ever before.
Praising Samanta’s mother, he said: She made profound sacrifices — like Devaki’s — as a mother bringing a Krishna to the world. Mother is indispensable. If you want to reach God, you must first honour your mother.”
Dr Samanta recalled an emotional moment. “I remember Prof. Ganeshi Lal, as Governor, once describing me as someone coming from a different planet because of my work. His affection has always encouraged me.”
On the occasion of Gita Jayanti and Ekadasi, Samanta noted that the book draws symbolic connection with the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita and Lord Krishna in the form of a divine calf.
He said that the Odia edition is not a literal translation of the English version, but it contains deeper reflections and additional aspects of his life and inspiration.
“I work hard because of the people’s love and affection. My mother always taught me that if I have done no wrong, I should fear no one,” he said, reiterating that KIIT and KISS have become “custodians of Odisha and its people.”
In his presidential address Prof. Sashanka Chudamani spoke about the early struggling days of Dr Samanta, which has been aptly represented in the book.
Senior writer Rakshak Nayak described the book as “a blend of good and difficult times, filled with stories of courage and inspiration.”
Eminent educationist Prof. Harekrishna Satapathy reviewed the book. Noted journalist Umapada Bose and Jibanand Mishra, Prakashak of Vidyapuri, also spoke about the book.
