New Delhi: Dr Manmohan Singh was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Sunday night after complaining of chest pain.
According to hospital sources, the former Indian Prime Minister was admitted under Dr Nitish Naik, a professor of cardiology at the AIIMS, around 9 pm.
“The doctors are examining his condition. He is under observation in the ICU of the Cardio-Thoracic Sciences Centre (CTVS) unit of the institute,” said a senior doctor.
The veteran Congress leader and reputed economist, now 87, led India’s liberalisation during his stint as finance minister in the 90s. He went on to serve as the Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014.
