New Delhi: When a team from the Directorate of Estates, under the Union government, was sent to get the bungalow occupied by late Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan’s son Chirag vacated on Wednesday, it was the third eviction in as many days.
Odisha’s PC Sarangi and Ram Shanker Katheria from UP were the others asked to vacate the houses allotted to them while they were ministers, The Hindu reported quoting a government official.
It’s a routine exercise as ministers are asked to vacate houses when they are no longer ministers so that these could be allotted to newly-inducted ministers.
Sarangi was Union Minister of State for MSME (under Nitin Gadkari) as well as Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Fisheries (under Giriraj Singh) from May 31, 2019 to July 7, 2021.
Sarangi, now 67, worked as Head Clerk in Nilgiri College, Nilgiri (Balasore) before trying his luck in Lok Sabha elections as BJP candidate. He lost in the 2014 election, but got elected from Balasore in the 2019 general election.
