Berhampur: A special court in Odisha’s Ganjam district has sentenced four people to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 20 years for raping a 14-year-old girl four years ago.
Pocso court judge at Berhampur, Ganeshwar Pati also imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 each on the four persons on Wednesday while convicting them and awarding the jail term, reports said.
The court also directed the Ganjam district legal service authority to pay Rs 5 lakh as compensation to the minor rape survivor, according to special public prosecutor Mohan Singari.
On August 16, 2018, the four accused raped the teenager when she had gone out of her house to relieve herself in a field. The judgement was pronounced on the basis of the medical report and the statements of 14 witnesses.
