Berhampur: Four persons of a family were allegedly murdered at a locality under Hinjili police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district in a group clash over passing lewd comments.
The deceased have been identified Sambhu Swain, Pandura Swain, Raja Swain, all sons of Mangulu Swain, and their nephew Chandan Swain of Narendrapur village.
According to sources, they were attacked by a group of six persons with iron rods and lathis near a fast food stall run by Sambhu at Pitala Chhak around 11.30 am. While the three brothers died on the spot, Chandan succumbed to injuries while being taken to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. One person of the other group also sustained injuries in the clash.
The clash ensued after Pandura allegedly passed some objectionable comments at a youth from Ramchandrapur, who was trying to help an injured woman after a couple fell off their bike in front of the fast-food stall around 10 pm. This led to a heated exchange of words and later the clash when six persons arrived on bikes while they were closing the stall and attacked them.
Two persons have been detained by police for questioning in this connection, the sources added.
