Four Odia Hockey Players In Probables For CWG, Azlan Shah

New Delhi: Four Odia players have made it to the probable list of players who will be participating in the upcoming Commonwealth Games and Sultan Azlan Shah Cup.

Amit Rohidas, Dipsan Tirkey, Birendra Lakra and Nilam Sanjeep Xess – all defenders, have been selected for the national camp which will begin from February 11 in Bengaluru.

The Indian team had an impressive outing in the recently concluded New Zealand tour and will be looking forward to keep the momentum for the upcoming tournaments.

“The next two weeks will not just be about evaluating our performance in New Zealand but also to implement the changes and improve really fast. We have short time to ready the 18 players for Sultan Azlan Shah Cup but with a two-week break, I can expect the players to come back fresh and hungry for the ball,” said Chief Coach Sjoerd Marijne.

The Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2018 will be held between March 3 and March 10, and will be followed by the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games starting from April 4.
