Bhubaneswar: Three more persons tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, taking the affected tally in the state to 173.
After almost a month, a fresh case has been detected in Cuttack. The I & PR department in a tweet identified the patient as a 34-year-old man from Tigiria in Cuttack district. He had recently returned from Surat.
The other two (50-year-old woman and 26-year-old man) are from Balasore with travel history to West Bengal. The district now has 23 confirmed cases and four among them have been fully cured.
Notably, Cuttack had reported its first COVID-19 case on April 3. He was a 30-year-old man from Pattapola. He had contracted the virus at the Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi’s Nizamusdin. He later recovered from the disease and was discharged from hospital.
With migrants returning home following relaxation in inter-state movement, there is a possibility of a spurt in COVID cases in Odisha. Ganjam has reported three corona positive cases in the last few days and all of them are Surat returnees.
