Mumbai: Mumbai Police filed a fresh FIR against Republic TV editor Arnab Goswami on Wednesday evening for resisting police officials who came to arrest him in the morning.
Sections 353, 504, 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) have been invoked in the new FIR, reported the Hindustan Times.
Goswami, arrested from his Mumbai residence on charges of abetting suicide of a 53-year-old interior designer in 2018, was produced before a court. His lawyer Gaurav Parker claimed that Goswami was assaulted by two police officials who were part of the team which went to arrest him.
“There are abrasions on his left hand and an existing injury on his hand was tried to be torn apart by police,” the lawyer said, adding that that Goswami’s family members were pushed and the house cordoned off for three hours.
