Fresh Low Pressure Area Forms Over Bay; Will It Affect Odisha?
Bhubaneswar: A low pressure area has formed over north Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh and Gangetic West Bengal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Friday.
It said the low pressure area has formed under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh.
Associated cyclonic circulation extends upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height.
It is likely to move westnorth-west wards across Gangetic West Bengal & Jharkhand during next 2 days.
However, the IMD is yet to make any forecast regarding any possible impact of the low pressure on Odisha.
It may be noted that several parts of Odisha were lashed by heavy rain and gusty wind under the impact of a low pressure area that had formed over the Bay of Bengal recently. The system had later intensified into a depression and crossed the Odisha coast near Chilika lake.
