Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure area is likely to form over central parts of south Bay of Bengal around December 7, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Friday.
“The system is likely to move west-northwestwards and reach over southwest Bay of Bengal off Sri-Lanka- Tamil Nadu coasts around December 12. Under its influence, isolated heavy rainfall is likely in coastal Tamil Nadu on December 11-12 and coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam & Rayalaseema on December 12,” it added.
The system is unlikely to have any direct impact on Odisha, which may experience light rain on December 8-9.
According to the weather agency, light rain may occur at one or two places in Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal Nuapada and Balangir districts on December 8 and in Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Khurda, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul and Boudh on December 9.
The IMD has also predicted shallow to moderate fog at one or two places in Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Kandhamal and Kalahandi districts on December 7-8.
The night temperature is also likely to fall by 2 to 4°C during the next 2 days and thereafter rise by 2 to 3 °C in the subsequent 3 days, it added.
