Bhubaneswar: A fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over Central Bay of Bengal around October 22, India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Thursday.
“A fresh upper air cyclonic circulation very likely to form over North Andaman Sea around October 20. Under its influence, Low-Pressure area likely to form over Central Bay of Bengal around October 22, thereafter, it is likely to move northwestwards and intensify further,” he wrote.
On the other hand, the Depression over westcentral & adjoining Bay of Bengal crossed north Tamil Nadu-South Andhra Pradesh coasts between Puducherry and Nellore, close to north of Chennai, in early hours of Thursday. “Subsequently, it weakened into a well marked low pressure area over South coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining North coastal Tamil Nadu at 5.30 am. it persisted over same region at 0830 hours IST of today. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and weaken into a low pressure area during next 6 hours,” it added.

Meanwhile, Light to moderate rain/thundershower may continue at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur on October 17.
The weather agency has also issued yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning for several districts of the state on October 18-19. Thunderstorm with lightning may occur at isolated placesin Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Nawarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri districts on October 18 and Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur on October 19.
Light to moderate rain/thundershower may continue in some places in South and coastal Odisha till October 23.
