Fresh Low Pressure May Trigger More Rains In Odisha; Orange Warning For 2 Days
Bhubaneswar: With a low-pressure area brewing over south Bangladesh and neighbourhood, Odisha may continue to experience heavy to very heavy rain for another 2 days and again from August 28, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Sunday.
“The upper air cyclonic circulation over south Bangladesh and neighbourhood lay over the same region. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over the same region during the next 3 hours. Thereafter, it is likely to become more marked and move westnorthwestwards across Gangetic West Bengal, North Odisha and Jharkhand during the subsequent 2 days,” according to the midday bulletin.
The weather agency has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore and Bhadrak districts on August 25. Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) may also occur at one or two places in Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Malkangiri and Koraput.
Bhubaneswar may experience partly cloudy sky with possibility of moderate rain or thunderstorm.
On August 26, very heavy rain may continue at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh and Jharsuguda districts. Heavy rain is also likely at one or two places in Bargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Balangir, Nuapada, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack and Sambalpur.
While there is no weather warning on August 27, heavy rain may resume at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Nuapada, Balangir, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput on August 28 and continue in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada and Balangir on August 29.
Light to moderate rain/thundershower may occur at many places across the state during the subsequent 2 days.
