Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the 74th Republic Day celebrations, a full-dress rehearsal was held in the presence of Odisha DGP Sunil Kumar Bansal at Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
Fifty troops are participating in the state-level parade this year including contingents of school and college students, a daredevil team, Commisionerate police, 120 infantry battalion, Indian Navy, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Andhra Police, Odisha State Armed Police (OSAP), Special Operation Group (SOG).
Several cultural programs will also be held this year such as the popular folk dance ‘Bagha Naccha’ (tiger dance) of Ganjam and a show by Odisha Skating Club, sources said.
A three-tier security arrangement has been made to prevent any untoward incident during the parade. While 30 platoons of police force are being deployed, a close vigil will be kept under CCTV surveillance and roads connecting to lower PMG will be closed.
Notably, only 11 troops participated in the parade in 2022 due to COVID protocols.
