G20 Education Working Group Meet In Bhubaneswar From April 27; Know Details

Bhubaneswar: The third meeting of the Education Working Group of G20 summit is scheduled to be held in Bhubaneswar from April 27 to 29.

This was stated by Neeta Prasad, joint secretary, Ministry of Education on Tuesday, while speaking to media persons in Bhubaneswar on month-long G20 sub-committee meetings to be held in Odisha capital.

She said delegates from G20 countries would be attending these meetings. The programmes under the Education Working Group, selection of themes and ensuring reach to the youth of the country were being led by the vision and guidance of Union Minister for Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan.

“In case of Odisha, where the theme is ‘Future of Work’, the Minister’s vision is that there should be widespread deliberations and effective outreach in every district on the emerging skilling requirements and the need for continuous skilling, reskilling and up-skilling as relevant to the district,” Prasad said.

Union Minister of State for Education Subhash Sarkar will inaugurate the session on April 27. Thereafter, there would be official level deliberations on the four priority areas – Foundational Literacy and Numeracy; Tech enabled learning; Future of Work and Research Collaboration.

The delegates will visit Konark on the evening of April 28. Apart from participating in the deliberations, the delegates would get to savour the best of Odisha’s art and culture, handloom, handicrafts and cuisines through especially curated performances and menus as also exhibits at the venues.

“In the run-up to the G20 Education Working Group Meetings, several events would be held from April 23 to 25. These events will be organised in collaboration with various institutions including IIT Bhubaneswar, IIM Sambalpur, Central University, NIT, IMMT Bhubaneswar, Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, Deloitte, CII and USIBC,” she said.

Prasad further said parallel brainstorming sessions covering 35 institutions in Odisha would organise deliberations on Future of Work in the fields relevant to all districts of the state. All 30 districts of Odisha would also celebrate India’s G20 presidency by organising ‘Jan Bhagidari’ events such as quiz contests, essay competitions, declamation contests, Mock G20 and Yuva Samvad.

Earlier, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had informed that three G20 sub-committee meetings on education, energy and culture will be held in Odisha.
