Bhubaneswar: Five days after escaping from SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, Odisha Police on Thursday nabbed dreaded gangster Sheikh Hyder from Telangana.
Police Commissioner Soumendra Priyadarshi informed media that acting on information, a special team of Cuttack police nabbed the gangster from Sangareddy district with the help of their Telangana counterparts.
“Notorious criminal, who had escaped from SCB hospital on April 10 has been nabbed by a special team of Cuttack police from Sangareddy district of Telangana,” the Police Commissioner told mediapersons.
He will be brought back to Odisha within 24 hours and a thorough probe will be conducted, Priyadarshi said.
The Police Commissioner explained that Hyder was travelling on a motorcycle in the evening when a police team on motorcycles caught him in the South India state.
Meanwhile, the DGP has congratulated the team for the swift action in a tweet.
