Jeypore: Police on Friday seized two quintals of ganja near Tusuba area in Koraput district.
Two persons hailing from Bihar have been detained in connection with the seizure.
According to sources, a police team intercepted a truck after receiving a tip-off regarding transportation of ganja in it. During the search, a huge cache of ganja was found inside the vehicle.
The banned substance was reportedly being smuggled to Bihar.
The market value of the seized ganja is estimated to be around Rs 10 lakh, the sources added.
On July 15, around 500 kg of ganja was recovered from three persons in Malkangiri district.
Acting on a tip-off regarding ganja smuggling, a team of police intercepted a container truck at Chitrakonda. On searching the vehicle, the cops found the ganja stashed in packets.
The ganja was being smuggled to Haryana from Andhra Pradesh via Chitrakonda.
