Bhubaneswar: A joint enforcement team of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) sealed five shops in the capital city for opening those in violation of COVID-19 restrictions imposed by the civic body.
The team went around the city on Monday and fined the shop keepers for violating the government-laid guidelines.
A cloth stores are located at Damana market in the city and Rs 7,000 has been imposed on owners of these shops. The enforcement will continue during Raja, said sources.
A similar drive was carried out across the state during which four garment shops were sealed in Rairangpur of Mayurbhanj district. raids were carried out by Rairangpur tehsildar, municipal executive officer and in-charge of Town police station.
In view of the lockdown across Odisha, all major shopping malls and markets are closed to check the spread of COVID-19 but some shop-keepers looking to make some money during Raja operated their units, albeit in a clandestine manner.
