Gen Bipin Rawat’s Daughters Immerse His Ashes In Haridwar
New Delhi: A day after India bid farewell to Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat and his wife Madhulika who were killed in a chopper crash, their daughters immersed their ashes in Haridwar on Saturday.
Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami met the daughters of Gen Rawat and Madhulika at VIP Ghat in Haridwar, where the ashes were immersed, reported the ANI.
The ashes were collected from Brar Square crematorium here on Saturday morning by their daughters Kritika and Tarini, according to media reports.
Gen Rawat was laid to rest with full military honours at Brar Square crematorium in Delhi Cantonment on Friday. The country’s first CDS was accorded a 17-gun salute at his funeral where 800 service personnel were in attendance. Kritika and Tarini performed their parents’ last rites.
Gen Rawat, along with his wife and 11 armed forces personnel died in an IAF chopper crash near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday.
Several political leaders among them Home Minister Amit Shah, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and DMK leaders A Raja and Kanimozhi paid tributes to the CDS and his wife.
