Chennai: In a bid to vaccinate more people, Chennai is sending health workers to the homes of elderly residents under its ‘Sending hospitals to homes’ initiative.
The team visits an apartment complex and sets up a drive in its club house. While nurses administer the vaccines, a doctor monitors everyone.
As many as 400 out of 2,000 people got vaccinated at one such place. The drive also covered domestic help and staff working there.
NDTV reported that those under 45 were also vaccinated in this drive.
Around 5 lakh people accounting for 6.5% of the city’s population have been vaccinated so far. This initiative is expected to drive the numbers up soon.
