Cuttack: To commemorate 100 years of Mahatma Gandhi’s visit to Cuttack, the district administration will install a gigantic bronze sculpture of the ‘Gandhi meeting’ held a century ago.
The sculpture that has been placed on the banks of the Kathajodi river will be unveiled on March 23.
Gandhi’s meeting with Odia freedom fighters will be showcased in the sculpture. The meeting took place on March 23, 1921.
The huge bronze structure measuring 10-foot high and 20-foot long will see Gandhi sitting on a wooden chair with a cloth cap on.
“The meeting has been captured on the bronze sculpture, the work on which is almost over. Finishing touches are being given by the artists. It will be inaugurated on March 23 to mark 100 years of Gandhi’s visit to Cuttack,” District Collector Bhabani Shankar Chayani was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
