Bhubaneswar: A girl allegedly took poison to commit suicide inside a police station in Khurda district after she came to know that her former boyfriend was going to marry another girl on Sunday.
According to sources, the girl of Somana Shasan village under Balipatna police limits, who attempted suicide, was in a relationship with Gopal Behera of the same village some time back. They broke up due to some differences.
Gopal’s family fixed his marriage with another girl and the ceremony was scheduled to be held on Sunday.
Before the marriage could be solemnised, the girl went to Balipatna police station and consumed the poison. The police rushed her to local community health centre. As her condition deteriorated, she was shifted to Capital Hospital, here.
Police have registered a case and further investigation is on.
